Every morning when I open my eyes, I’m bombarded by news of the Coronavirus in Wuhan, China. It is spreading pretty fast, especially at the epicentre. Lack of proper hygiene and medical facilities has made the situation worse. Surgical masks are flying off the shelves. People are fearful and panicky.
My friends, I declare Psalm 91 over you today.
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the [a]fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
4 He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and [b]buckler.
5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
8 Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall [c]bear you up,
Lest you [d]dash your foot against a stone.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will [e]set him on high, because he has known My name.
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With [f]long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”
As children of God, we must learn to trust God with every aspect of our lives. We must lift up our shield of faith and rely on God to protect us from this disease. Let us guard our hearts from fear and anxiety. Let us pray for China and all the countries that the virus has spread. Remember the thousands of doctors and medical workers who risk their lives and work round the clock to combat this virus. Let us rise up and stand in the gap for the world that He so loved.
This Coronavirus reminded me of the John G Lake’s testimony during the Bubonic Plague. He helped to buried the people who died from the Bubonic Plague. He did not wear or use anything to protect himself. However, he never contacted the disease. The doctors were amazed and when they ask him, he answered ““Brother that is the ‘law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.’ I believe that just as long as I keep my soul in contact with the living God so that His Spirit is flowing into my soul and body, that no germ will ever attach itself to me, for the Spirit of God will kill it.”
Instead of being fearful, he is full of faith. Instead of being absorbent and drawing everything to himself, his spirit repels sickness and disease.He encouraged them to do an experiment with him. So they took the foam that come out of the dead and put it under microscope. They can see that the germs are still alive after the person died. However, when they touched John G Lake’s hand, they died instantly.
He said, “That is ‘the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.’ When a man’s spirit and a man’s body are filled with the blessed presence of God, it oozes out of the pores of your flesh and kills the germs.”
Isn’t this amazing? It is the power of God at work! My friends, if you are sick or fearful, read the Word of God. Connect yourself to God and contact God’s law of life. Let the Word protect you.
