The Art of Brokenness

Have you heard of the Kintsugi Art? Kintsugi means golden joinery or repair with gold.  Originated from Japan, it is the art of restoration that puts broken pottery back with gold power applied on lacquer. Every piece is broken differently so no two pieces are of the same design. This art highlights the “brokenness” of the pottery. There is no attempt to hide the scars but to illuminate it. It is because of the “flaws” that makes Kintsugi Art so special and the broken pottery is now more beautiful and precious than before.

Remember the moment when something crashed on to the floor and broke into many pieces? Most of us are familiar with broken things. As a child, when our favourite toy is broken, we put it on the shelf, waiting for Daddy to fix it. Or we simply trash it and get a new one. Very often, it takes too much work to repair. It is so much easier to get a new one, isn’t it?

Life is not perfect. This is a broken world. When we look around us, we see broken lives, broken relationships, broken marriages, broken dreams… Tossed aside. Left on the shelf. Shattered into pieces. Ashamed. Broken. Beyond repair.

Many people put on a front. They pretend and try to hide their brokenness. They post wonderful pictures of their family vacations on Instagram. They hide behind addictions, thick makeup and designer clothes.

The devil has lied to so many of us that we are too deep in our sin and ungodly lifestyle and we cannot change. Some of us believe that we are stuck because we believe our personality and behaviour are set. That is who we are. My friends, that is not true. We need to discard these mindsets and look into the Word of God.

Power of His Resurrection

There is no shame in our brokenness. Jesus died on the cross for our sins and took our shame upon Himself. When He died, God laid on Him the iniquity of us all. All our mistakes, sins, fears, pains, hurts, shame and condemnations were laid upon Him. He is innocent perfect lamb of God to atone for our sins. Without Jesus, we will all be slaves to sin. But because of His finished work on the cross, we are freed from the power of sin once and for all. His blood cleanses us from sin. Jesus has conquered sin, death and hell!

His resurrection proves that we are forgiven! The devil has no hold on us anymore. Sickness, poverty, depression and defeat are not our portion. Our supply and help come from Heaven. Today, we can come boldly to the throne of grace and ask for His mercy and help. Every dead and lifeless are of your life can be turn around. That’s the power of His resurrection!

He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. ~Romans 4:25

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. ~ Hebrews 12:2

For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. ~Romans 6:14

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, ~Romans 8:1

His Restoration

When we receive Jesus into our heart, we are new creations in Christ. Because He lives, we can face tomorrow. Because of His resurrection, we can have hope. We can go to God as we are (boldly and without fear) and allow Him to heal and restore us. We can give God our brokenness and allow our Creator to put back the broken pieces of our lives. Can we humble ourselves today and allow Him to restore us? Can we let go and surrender our lives to him?

We are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the product of your labor. But now, LORD, you are our Father, and we are clay, and you are our potter; and we all are the work of your hands. ~ Isaiah 64:8

My friends, there is hope in your marriage, career, family and every area of your life! God can turn your life around if you are willing to give your brokenness to Him. It will be better than before. Your future is bright. Because Jesus is already there.

I started this blog to pen down my journey with God. I wanted to share with the world how He has transformed my life above and beyond what I can even imagine. I want to inspire many other fellow brothers and sisters to trust in Him, be steadfast and immovable regardless of our circumstances.
